Artist Information

Hebru Brantley is an American artist best known for his trademark cast of empowered Afrofuturist superheroes. Drawing inspiration from street art, manga, comic books and pop art, the artist’s young characters reference fictional icons, such as Batman and Mickey Mouse, as well as his personal pop idols, such as Warhol or Basquiat. Dealing with themes of race, nostalgia, ambition, power and hope, Brantley’s heroes place all-powerful figures who represent people of colour at the heart of a reinvented and empowering fictional narrative. Combining moments of reality and fantastical fiction, Brantley creates a ‘fragmented environment of make believe’.

Hebru Brantley’s work is collected by celebrities and A-list buyers such as Jay-Z, Beyoncé, LeBron James and Lenny Kravitz.
