More information about this artwork

Damien Hirst is one of the most acclaimed and influential multi-disciplinary artists of the last 20 years. His bold and groundbreaking artistic practice explores the uncertainty of modern times and the fragility of the human condition through a variety of mediums. Hirst’s most controversial and internationally recognized art pieces are sculptural, often featuring formaldehyde-suspended carcasses encased in glass vitrines. His cutting-edge depiction of subjects undergoing death and decay has rendered him a colossal figure in the art world. Throughout his career, Hirst has also produced captivating paintings such his Kaleidoscope, Spot, and his latest Veil series. Moved by an entrepreneurial spirit and a proclivity for spectacle, Hirst has broken several world records as a living artist, becoming one of the most influential contemporary artists of our generation.

Cafe Royal, one of the artist’s most recent bodies of work, belongs to his ever famous Spot series. The fun-sized multi-colored spots, smaller and closer than usual, attempt to veil the captivating black background. More than one thousand artworks, thirteen sub-series and three decades after, Hirst has still been able to disrupt one of his emblematic and most prolific series.
